A WBTV viewer wrote me after the 11pm news tonight asking:
“When you were reporting about McCain’s VP selection, you ended it by saying at 44, they say she is a risky pick. Was that mentioned because CBS is a Democratic-owned operation or was that you view?
Just curious… Stephen”
I wrote him back, citing four different national news organizations and political [...]

Our newscast sat in black tonight for about 35 minutes.
Engineers were scrambling – trying to determine the cause and get it fixed.
We limped back on the air just after 5:30pm, but couldn’t get a signal out of our Center City Studio…
Strange Stuff. We’ve got backups for our backups at the TV station. But with HD [...]

Maybe it’s the rain. Maybe it’s the detoxing effects of the Daniel Fast. Maybe it’s that two of the people I love most in the world are on the other side of the country. Whatever it is, I’m feeling funky today.

There is a great deal of debate going on right now over classrooms segregated by gender.
Whether, because of different learning styles, or differences in their brains, boys and girls learn better when they’re separated at school. Many school districts are experimenting with this idea.
Segregated-by-gender classrooms are a growing option in Mecklenburg, Union, and York counties.

We’re hearing a great deal of anger and frustration from viewers after the most violent week in recent memory.

Here’s to blogging in between newscasts. It’s more of a twitter than a blog.
I’m writing and preparing for the 10 and 11pm newscasts… and I remembered something I wanted to share with you.
It was from “the buzz” in the Charlotte Observer – a reader slamming “liberals” for not going to church.
“the buzz” writer responded saying, [...]

We’ve all got our favorite foods- staples we keep in the fridge and an extra in the pantry.
Almond Butter and Hummus are two of ours.
It’s Day One of the Daniel Fast for staff and volunteers at Elevation Church.
We’re paring down to the simplest foods as part of our efforts to draw closer to God.
Simple, whole [...]

Sometimes Life is Messy
Can life get any more wonderful?
Look at that face.
Messy. Fabulous. Fun.
And I’m enjoying every minute of it.
Except the ants.
Because there’s always bits of food on my floor.
In my kitchen.
I’m trying low-impact ways of getting rid of them.
It’s slow. And I’m growing impatient.
They’re very, very large ants.
Tomorrow at 5:30 on WBTV:
Leilani Munter. Her [...]
